Hamas is a Palestinian organization that has played a significant role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over the past few decades. The organization was founded in 1987, during the First Intifada (Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation), and since then has been one of the main political and military forces in the Gaza Strip, a densely populated Palestinian territory.
Hamas is considered an Islamic militant group and is classified as a terrorist organization by several countries, including the United States and Israel. The group has a radical Islamic ideology and seeks the liberation of Palestine and the creation of an independent Palestinian state, but its tactics and strategies often involve violent actions, such as rocket attacks against Israeli targets.
Clashes between Hamas and Israel are frequent and often result in cycles of violence in the region. The animosity between the two parties is rooted in territorial, religious and political issues. Palestinians demand the creation of an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, while Israel insists on its security and right to exist as a Jewish state.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is complex and deeply rooted, and the situation is worsened by a number of factors, including issues of territory, Palestinian refugees, the issue of Jerusalem and political disagreements. Resolving this conflict is an extremely difficult challenge and requires sustainable peace negotiations and the search for a solution that satisfies both parts.
