On the evening of last Saturday, October 6th, Cristo La Roca Church International Ministry had the honor of hosting Dr. Andy Mencia for an inspiring preaching on a topic of great importance: "What God says about our body". This is a subject that resonates deeply with questions of identity, health and spirituality, and promises to offer participants an enlightening insight into how to care for our bodies in light of faith.
Dr. Mencia, in addition to his medical training, also has a deep understanding of Scripture and a passion for uniting science and spirituality. His talk shed light on the biblical view of the human body and how we can honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit.
With great wisdom, Dr Andy Mencia addressed the relationship between physical, spiritual and mental health. After all, we often neglect our bodies and assume that spirituality is separate from our physical health. However, the Bible teaches us that our bodies are precious in God's eyes, and we should take care of them. The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, who has been given to you by God, and that you are not your own? You were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God with your bodies". These words highlight the importance of treating our bodies with respect and care, recognizing that they belong to God and should be used for His glory.
Regarding mental health, Mencia spoke, for example, about how worried we are, we know that nowadays we have many worries: losing our job, paying the bills, etc.; however, we are guided by Jesus to take care of anxiety - Matthew, 6: 25-33-34: “Therefore I say to you, do not be anxious about your life, as to what you will eat or drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Therefore seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its worries; The day is enough for its own evil.”
In summary, the words spoken by Dr. Andy at Cristo La Roca Church were truly inspiring. It is unquestionable that we should reflect on these words, considering how we can honor our bodies as precious divine gifts. Additionally, it is crucial to explore integrating our physical, mental, and spiritual health into our faith journey. Without a doubt, everyone present left with a deeper understanding of what God teaches about our bodies and how we can apply these principles in our daily lives.
